Saint Sebastian: the charm of suffering, inspired by the work of Giovanni Antonio Bazzi known as Sodoma (1477-1549)
"For this heroism with which you endured the pain of the arrows that impaled your whole body, and miraculously kept alive, then detached from the gallows by the pious widow Irene, you reproached the barbarous Diocletian for his injustice and impiety, impart again for us all O glorious martyr Sebastian, that we may always bear with joy the illnesses, persecutions, and all the adversities of this miserable life, so that one day we may participate in your glory in Heaven, after having participated in your sufferings above the earth".
(From the back of a holy card dated 1913).

An encounter with Japan, a fascinating world of combinations of influences and ancient cultural and identity traditions.
How the ancient art of fighting is a way of life and an ongoing spiritual quest within the daily struggle.
The very marked traits of the forms, the use of bright colours and symbolism, also evoke the bond that unites Japanese man to the perfection of nature; the cherry tree to represent the impermanence and caducity of things, the mystical aura of sacred mountains, the harmony of religious cults, the contemplation of every small aspect of creation.
A melancholy, "a sensitivity of things" transpires from the composition, a concept that evokes the emotion aroused by the beauty and fragility of the elements and the sense of nostalgia that their change provokes in us human beings.
Nostra Signora di Guadalupe
Mora, 2023
290x220cm – 114.2″x86.6″
Oil on canvas
A work inspired by Our Lady of Guadalupe, also known as the Virgin of Guadalupe, who, following an apparition in Mexico in 1531, became the revered Mary, the Queen of all Spanish-speaking peoples. The composition recalls and reinterprets those symbolic and particular elements that have characterised the history and legend of the 'Virgen morenita'. Wrapped in her mantle, surrounded by the rays of the sun, the roses of Castile, the stars and the moon, supported by the angel; victorious over the evil 'Guadalupe' in the indigenous idiom: 'crushes the head of the serpent'.

Woman and Mother Earth, nurturer of youth and the green earth, creator of the cycle of seasons, life and death. A universal sister, vegetable and animal soul, rich and generous, immense and strong, transforming and regenerating, resistant and resilient, unwavering and tenacious. Although often beaten, torn and humiliated, she moves forward not to win but to LIVE. To release the purpose of life, to stitch Humanity back together with the breath of Love and Harmony; to teach how to draw with respect and gratitude from the immense and miraculous magnificence that is LIFE. And before leaving the square, let no one leave empty-handed. For the supreme spirit of the 'Dispensing Mother' will not sleep peacefully in the wind until the need of the last of us is satisfied.
SPIRITUS
Mora, 2023
290x220cm – 114.2″x82.7″
Oil on canvas
From an intelligible two-colour drawing of a small child with an innocent and pure unconscious, Mora elaborates his inspiration and translates it into an explosion of colours and technique. The Angel and the Demon are revealed through a few elements with basic shapes; the tones, as well as creating games of depth, also recall the contrasts and overlapping of good and evil, a sort of link between the perfection of the superworld and the imperfection of the material world.
Identità
Mora, 2023
210x200cm – 82.7″x51″
Oil on canvas
Through the presence on the canvas, in the foreground, of the close-up central figure, the sense of suspension and recollection that hovers around the very heart of the image is increased; it may seem almost 'playful ' but it is not at all. The dialogue that the artist wants to establish opens up to the sensitive dimension of recognition and diversity, of identity, of how we deal with imperfections and how we perceive ourselves. The body lacking a 'belonging', represents reflection and investigation that traverses the intimate . Space has no limits or boundaries and leads to this lifelong journey of transformation. The work Identity is a manifesto of social and cultural non-identity, a denunciation of contradictions, prejudices and stereotypes.
WHL0137-LS EARENDEL
It is the most distant single star even observed, 12.9 billion light years from Earth, a massive, hot blue supergiant in the constellation of the Whale, destined to explode as a supernova. Also known as Earendel, the 'rising light' or 'morning star', it is the first star of dawn; not that of an earthly day but that of the entire universe, of which the three works make us imagine hypotheses about its future and its unlimited expansion. Where one can also postulate theories about the infinite cycles of death and rebirth and the existence of other worlds and creatures.

CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky
Wake up the dawn and ask her why
A dreamer dreams, she never dies
Wipe that tear away now from your eye
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova
‘Cause people believe
That they’re gonna get away from the summer
But you and I we live and die
The world’s still spinning around we don’t know why
Why, why, why, why?
How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova
‘Cause people believe
That they’re gonna get away from the summer
But you and I we live and die
The world’s still spinning around we don’t know why
Why, why, why, why?
How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
We were getting high
